Arron Wood – Inspiring Our Next Environmental Leaders

posted in: Uncategorized | 4

Environmental podcast with Arron Wood from Kids Teaching Kids.

Arron Wood has been a champion of the environment for most of his life. In this episode of Wilderkids, Arron shares the key turning point in his life, when, at 8 years old, the environmental warrior was born.

Arron Wood is an Australian sustainable business and education leader. He is also the Deputy Lord Mayor of the City of Melbourne and the chairman of the 2017 World Ecocity Summit Advisory Board.

At age 21, Arron co-created the amazing environmental education programme, Kids Teaching Kids, that has inspired over 125,000 future environmental leaders!

At the age of 25 Arron was declared the Young Australian of the Year in the National Environment category. Two years later he received the Centenary Medal for outstanding contributions in support of conservation and the environment. In 2006 he received the United Nations Individual Award for Outstanding Service to the Environment, and then in 2007 he won the Prime Minister’s Australian Environmentalist of the Year.

It makes me tired just thinking about all of Arron’s achievements and I am so excited to think that someone that is so passionate about the environment is now Deputy Lord Mayor of the City of Melbourne.

We need more Arrons in this world!

The children’s book Arron talked about, that affected him as child was Animalia by British born, Australian author-illustrator Graeme Base. First published in 1986, it has gone on to sell over 3 million copies.

It’s a visually stunning alphabet book full of fun illustrations featuring many many animals.

Hi, yes I agree, it’s brilliant to get kids at that age to really connect to the environment
